To celebrate the Japanese television premiere of the brand-new anime short My Hero Academia: I am a hero too, series creator Kōhei Horikoshi shared a fresh pair of character illustrations on social media.
The first piece of art, posted shortly before the short’s broadcast, spotlights an adult Izuku "Deku" Midoriya. Alongside the artwork, Horikoshi included a countdown message reminding fans to tune in. The second illustration shifts the focus to a teenage Eri—who is pursuing her passion for music in the new animation—accompanied by classmates Momo Yaoyorozu, Kyoka Jiro, Fumikage Tokoyami, Katsuki Bakugo, and Denki Kaminari.
I am a hero too offers fans a glimpse into the characters’ futures, confirming that Deku has resumed his hero duties alongside his career as a teacher.
Following its initial premiere at Anime Expo last July, the short was screened at Japan’s "Character Match Up" event and made its domestic streaming debut. Crunchyroll is currently offering the special for international viewers outside of Asia.
This release marks the second manga-inspired bonus short for the franchise, following the "More" episode that debuted earlier this year. Both specials are part of the ongoing celebration for the My Hero Academia series’ 10th anniversary, which also recently concluded its eighth and final television season on Japanese networks and Crunchyroll.
