Series debuted in 2016

According to the 25th compiled book volume of Shō Aimoto‘s Kemono Jihen manga released on Tuesday, the supernatural series is officially drawing to a close and will wrap up in its next volume.
English-language publisher Seven Seas Entertainment offers the following synopsis for the series:
Inugami is a Tokyo-based occult detective who travels to a remote village to investigate a peculiar case. There, he meets a young boy named Dorotabo—a nickname derived from a muddy rice paddy yokai. Shunned by locals due to his lack of parents, unsettling demeanor, and an unpleasant odor, the boy catches Inugami’s attention. When the two team up to look into a series of livestock attacks caused by a mysterious beast, Inugami uncovers the true, supernatural nature hidden beneath Dorotabo’s exterior. Seeing potential in the troubled youth, Inugami decides to take him under his wing, helping him harness his own eerie physical abilities to confront the hidden monsters of the world.
Aimoto originally launched Jump SQ. in December 2016, with Shueisha putting out the 25th volume this week. Meanwhile, Seven Seas published the 21st English volume on June 23. The manga’s popularity also led to a television anime adaptation, which made its debut in January 2021.
Earlier this year, the manga took a brief hiatus for a single issue in February. Addressing the break on their X (formerly Twitter) account, Aimoto explained that they had suffered from gastroenteritis at the start of the year. Fortunately, the creator confirmed they are feeling much better and have an upcoming endoscopy scheduled.
