The official website for the second season of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World anime adaptation—based on Nana Mikoshiba’s popular light novel series—released a brand-new teaser promotional video and announced additional cast members. The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere this October on TBS and BS11.
Alongside the teaser, the production team unveiled fresh character designs and cast updates:
- Kōhei Amasaki returns as Albert Allium.
- Hana Hishikawa joins the cast as Olivia Arnold.
- Atsumi Tanezaki reprises her role as Stella White (whom she initially voiced in the final episode of the first season, alongside her role as Lydia Ainsworth).
- Miyu Kubota takes over the role of Elisa Griffith, replacing Nana Harumura, who retired from voice acting earlier this year due to health reasons.
Staff and Production Updates
Masahiro Takata is returning to helm the project, once again serving as director, script supervisor, and sound director. However, production duties have shifted from Cloud Hearts (which handled the first season) to animation studio Zero-G.
Joining Takata on the screenwriting team is Takahito Ōnishi (My Happy Marriage, Whisper Me a Love Song), alongside returning writer Tomoko Shinozuka. Meanwhile, Mariko Kawamoto (Magica Wars) has taken over character design duties from Makoto Shimojima.
Background Information
The first season of the anime originally premiered in January 2023, with Crunchyroll streaming both the subbed and English-dubbed versions as they aired.
Nana Mikoshiba first serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2019, followed by the launch of the print light novel series featuring illustrations by Riko Korie in July 2020 via Kodansha. Norihito Sasaki’s manga adaptation ran on Magazine Pocket from June 2020 until January 2024, concluding with its 16th and final volume in April 2024. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English, following the premise of ordinary-seeming, clumsy student Ray White entering the elite Arnold Academy of Magic—while hiding his true identity as the legendary Iceblade Sorcerer.
Additionally, a brand-new sequel manga titled Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu II launched on May 27, illustrated by Nao Kagami with composition by Ishiya Ōgane, and is published on Niconico Manga under Kodansha’s "Suiyōbi no Sirius" imprint.
